Matt Clarke looks set to shake off the flu and lead Darlington's attack in tomorrow's visit of Bury.

With Danny Mellanby unlikely to be fit to face the Shakers, after suffering a recurrence of a back injury in the midweek defeat at Cheltenham, Clarke will resume striker duties after playing at the back against Yeovil six days ago.

The 25-year-old is one of a number of Quakers players who have been suffering from flu over the last seven days.

But manager Mick Tait has revealed his under-the-weather squad are now over the worst and raring to go as Quakers look to end a five-match losing streak.

"A lot of the lads have been suffering with flu and Matt has been the worst," said Tait.

"He's feeling a lot better than he was, along with the rest of the lads.

"Hopefully nobody else will go down with it because we can't afford to lose any more players."

Tait will have no problem in handing Clarke a forward role, as he has already proved to be a more than capable target man this season.

With Barry Conlon out until December and Glen Robson recovering from a hamstring injury, Ian Clark is expected to partner Clarke in attack tomorrow.

Tait is still hopeful of adding to his striking options but fans may have to wait until next week before any new faces come in.
