Newfit Services Willington: Willington Burn moved up to fourth place in the table with a good home win over a strong Prospect Club team.

The visitors only singles win came from Paul Morris, who then joined Trevor Bourne to take their only doubles point. They finished their scoring when they took the team game. The Burn had singles wins from Sean Pardew, Lyndon Taylor, Malcolm Campbell, Colin Davison and Tony Longhorn, whilst Tony Longhorn with Malcolm Campbell and Colin Davison with Sean Pardew added doubles points.

Sunnybrow Brown Trout A lead the table by two points from Willington Lion and Unicorn. Willington Cottles are four points adrift of the Unicorn but have a match in hand over the top two.

Tow Law Coors

Hamsteels Inn produced a very good display to make their sixth victory of the season when they beat the visiting Sunniside Comedian by the odd point. The two trebles points were shared and the six singles also finished level when Jimmy Hanley, Brian Agar and Stan Johnson won for Hamsteels, with Bill Railton, Ray Johnson and George Whitfield replying. The home side then took the first two of the three doubles to make their victory.

Newhouse Club only dropped three points on their visit to Cornsay Royal Oak but this cut their lead at the top to eight points as second placed Tow Law New Market A whitewashed their hosts at Tow Law Rose and Crown. This put the Market A eight points ahead of Billy Row Club, with the Market having two matches in hand of Newhouse and Billy Row one.

There were maximums from D. Thornton, K. Liddle and J. Gilchrist of Newhouse and K. Atkinson and J. Parkin, who also added 140 and 135, for the New Market A. C. Wilcockson hit 140 for Billy Row Club with R. McFadden making 140 and 135 for the New Market A.

Tow Law Station produced their best performance to date this season when they beat the visiting second placed, Crook Jelly's Bar B by three points. This has seriously dented Jelly's championship challenge for they have now slipped seven points behind the leaders, Crook Queen's Head A, who have a match in hand. Jelly's B do have a cushion on the third placed Victoria Club, who they lead by thirteen points.

Byers Green Club had their lead at the top of the table cut to one point when they lost by the odd point at Crook Mill House, whilst the second placed, Crook Royal Sun were winning by five points at home to Crook White Swan. Crook Bar 56 slipped down to share third place with Crook Golden Fleece after they lost at home to Crook Coach and Horses.
