Willington: Man of the match Jordan Roberts netted a double hat trick - six goals - for Willington Under-11s in their 13-0 victory at home to Shildon in the second round of the Russell Foster League Cup, the pick of his goals a 20-yard free kick into the top corner.

There was a hat trick for Matthew Proud, the other goals coming from Stephen Vayro (2), Alex Hird and Craig Elliott.

Man of the match Ryan Young scored a hat trick for Willington Under-15s, 7-1 winners away to Jarrow YMCA in another second round league cup tie. Adam Nicholls (2), Harry Drummond (pen) and Joe Fairish were the other Willington scorers.

Willington Under-16s lost 4-2 at home to newly promoted Sunderland Westland on their return to league action. Willington went behind early on and trailed 3-1 at half time. They pulled it back to 3-2 in the second half only to concede a fourth goal as they were pressing for the equaliser towards the end.

The Willington scorers were Chris Botterill and Daniel Kent, with Jonathan Foster man of the match.

Ferryhill Town Youth

Playing against Cumby Rovers, Ferryhill Under-10s got off to a great start, a corner from Nathan Ball was put away by Reece Wooley in the first minute. Cumby came back and made it 1-1 at half time. Ferryhill went ahead ten minutes into the second half with a great goal from David Gibson. Cumby drew back for a last minute goal to make the final score 2-2. Man of the match was awarded to Tom Olley.

The Under-12s were at home to Sunderland FC Stannington in the County Cup. In an action packed game, the first half ended goalless, although both sides had a number of chances to score. Within minutes of the re-start Sunderland scored, Ferryhill were caught on the break by a quick counter attack for Sunderland to grab a second. Ferryhill had a number of chances but failed to score, Sunderland then added a third, and deserved to win the match. Final score was Ferryhill 0, Sunderland 3. Ferryhill's man of the match went to Thomas Pearson.

The Under-11s, Under-13s and Under-14s were also beaten.

Spennymoor

Spennymoor Under-14s continued their winning run with a 6-3 home victory against Waldridge Park. The score could have been far higher as the home side hit the woodwork on seven occasions and the visitors' goalkeeper was outstanding, producing many spectacular saves throughout the match.

In the end the home side had to settle for a hat trick apiece from Todd Franey and Jason White who both produced their best displays of the season.

Byers Green

After winning their last three games Byers Under-13s were looking to keep their good run going against Riverside.

Byers got off to a good start, scoring after only five minutes. A corner was swung in by Whitworth which was only half cleared and Ellis hit it on the volley to give them an early lead.

Minutes later the second came when again Riverside cleared the ball and Condron scored what will be a contender for goal of the season with his shot from 30 yards out to beat the keeper at his top left hand corner.

The score stayed 2-0 until half time, then further goals in the second half, two from Ellis to complete his hat-trick and two from Hallimond put Byers in control of the game.

Late in the game Riverside scored two goals but Byers came back with a good strike from Whitworth to finish the game at 7-2. This was another good all round performance from Byers and continues their good run.

Bishop Auckland Barrington Wanderers

Barrington Wanderers played a 1-1 draw at home to Chester Rangers.

Against the run of play the opening goal went to the visitors with an excellent long range shot. The home team had the majority of the possession with the visitors rarely getting out of their own half.

It appeared to be one of those games when the team would never score when deep into the game Paul Brunskill made the most of yet another chance.

Wanderers were unlucky not take all three points but for and excellent game from the visitors goal keeper and being saved on a number of occasions by the woodwork. Andrew Sneddon was named the man of the match.

Bishop Auckland College

Sunday saw Bishop Auckland College Under-18s on the wrong end of a 4-2 defeat at Durham County.

The College did not play so well and it seemed some players had not got out of bed for the game, although Gavin McGurk had a good game as did Simon Quinn.

The goals came from Anthony Ebdon, the second being the pick of the bunch, a 25 yard free kick put into the top right hand corner.

Coxhoe Boys

The Under-15s played outstandingly well but were unable to overcome a strong Boldon Colts side in the Russell Foster Youth League Cup.

Boldon are unbeaten in two and a half years but despite this Coxhoe put in another good performance although strikers, Michael Owens and John Dodd, both put in below par performances.

However, goalkeeper, Tom Orton, excelled. Tom, who is nearly two years younger than his teammates, pulled-off five great saves but was unable to do anything about any of the four goals Boldon scored.

Coxhoe don't have a game this weekend.

Tow Law Juniors

Tow Law Juniors entertained Washington Dunlop in the Russell Foster League with the visitors going ahead with a spectacular goal after 15 minutes. Unfortunately for the Lawyers it came from the boot of home player, Chris Wayman when he made a desperate attempt to clear the ball near the edge of the area and blasted an unstoppable shit into his own net.

Sinner became saint after 24 minutes when Wayman made total amends with a goal bound effort that the visiting goalkeeper, Chris Cower could only knock onto the bar with Daniel Appleby following up to convert. Both teams then had chances but half time was reached with the scores still level thanks to a late clearance off the home goal line by John Wheatley.

Tow Law went ahead after 57 minutes when Anthony Lee calmly stroked the ball from the edge of the penalty area into the net, leaving Cower no chance. The game was put beyond the reach of the Washington team when, after 80 minutes, Nicky Martin, the home leading scorer, cracked in the third goal after good work from Adam Sullivan and Kevin Russell.

For the Lawyers there were good performances from mid-fielders Andrew Bonilla and Lee Mott and from centre backs David Curry and Michael Coulthard but the Man of the Match award went to David Murray.

On Sunday, Tow Law Juniors are away to Seaham High Colliery in the County Cup with a 1.30pm kick off.
