A GROUP of schoolchildren have been given awards for a project about autumn.
The winning pupils at Bishop Ian Ramsey School, in Medomsley, near Consett, were presented with Manor House Care Home's Dr Mukherjee Award for excellence.
Their paintings and writings, expressing what autumn meant to them, were judged by residents of the care home, originally owned by the late Dr Amiya Mukherjee.
The six winners, one from each of the years, were:
Michael Gladders, reception, Mirrin Henderson, Year 1, Lee Dent, Year 2, Alex Westerberg, Year 3, Edina Sivell, Year 4, and Gary Limond, Year 5. Each winner got a certificate and £10 book token.
Care home business manager Bob Elsey, who presented the awards, also gave £200 to the school for the purchase of more books.
