Chester-le-Street: Playing in the Women's Northern Regional League Division One, Chester suffered their first league defeat of the season in what was described as their worst week for two years.

It all looked so promising for the Cestrians when Rachel Weightman ran onto Rachel Furness' ball and shot over the Carlisle keeper.

Further chances were wasted and Carlisle took advantage of slack defending to equalise. They then took the lead against the run of play when a speculative cross dropped in over stand-in keeper Rachel Young and into the net.

There still seemed no problem as Chester still continued to create chances but Carlisle defended well.

The second half saw more pressure from Chester but Carlisle scored on the break to secure the points.

Division One results: Crook Town 0 Darlington 2, Blyth Town 3 Durham City 1, Marton 1 Killingworth 7.

The result of the day on Saturday saw South Durham Royals Under-14s defeat Cramlington A 3-1 with only five players. A goal from Amy Pratt and a brace from Alex Saunders earned Royals a well earned victory. The result means that South Durham move to within two points of leaders Cramlington.

Michaela Carter led the way for Boldon Under-16s, notching four goals in their 5-2 success over Consett Badgers in their top of the table clash. Rutherford and Spraire Lasses Under-16s fought out a five goal thriller with the Spraire Lasses winning by the odd goal 3-2. Danni Shutt (2) and Claire Moss scored for the winners with Hannah Clayton replying twice for Rutherford.

In the Under-10 section, Blyth produced an excellent result by beating table toppers Middlesbrough 5-2. East Durham Cadets maintained their 100 per cent record in the Under-12s section with two comfortable victories.
