THE UK's leading manufacturer of specialist plastic and glass products made an impressive debut on the London Stock Exchange's junior market yesterday.
Romag, of Consett, County Durham, saw its share price surge nearly 55.5 per cent, rising from 45p to 70p by the close of trading.
Lyn Miles, chief executive, said: "This float has been very important for us and we are highly delighted that it has been such a success."
Romag's flotation on the Alternative Investment Market (Aim) raised £7.5m after expenses, making it a £30m market capitalisation company. The money will be used to develop a plant in Consett.
The firm will use the site to produce photovoltaic glass which uses solar cells in windows to produce energy from light.
Romag announced last week it had signed a deal with BP Solar for the panels.
Romag already produces bullet-proof and toughened glass for the security industry and for banks.
