Hambleton Ales North Yorkshire League: Bedale have been dislodged from the top spot in Division One.

Their blank fixture week enabled Harrogate Squash II to take over following their 3-0 away victory over Knaresborough.

Two of the three matches went to five games but Bob Peacock and Nicola Pratt both finished strongly to take the rubbers for Harrogate.

In the current table Harrogate II are top with 48 points, unbeaten in four matches. Second are Knaresborough on 43 points (three wins from five); Bedale are third (42 points, also three wins in five). Harrogate Squash are fourth on 39 points, one more than fifth placed Wensleydale.

Harrogate Squash first team, who beat Wensleydale 2-1, are unbeaten in four matches and in fourth place, nine points behind their second stringers. The first team lost four points earlier in the season for cancelling a fixture.

Thirsk notched up another good win beating Bradford-based Heaton 3-2 at home.

Kall Kwik Harrogate and District League

Harlow produced a big surprise in the First Division when they defeated leaders Adel 2-1.

Victories by Tom Ellis and Steve Smith did the damage while Mick Galley, making his debut for the north Leeds outfit, took the Adel rubber.

Ellis was in dominant form against Adel's first string Mark Ambler securing 9-0 9-0 9-6 scorelines.

Smith finished strongly in his match, beating Jon Hodgson 4-9 9-7 9-0 9-0.

Harlow's only setback came as Dave McGrath went down to Galley 5-9 9-7 4-9 8-10.

Meanwhile the five leading sides in Division One have all won five matches and lost two so far this season.

With Adel and Chapel Allerton leading the way on 63 points apiece and Ilkley on 60 Harlow are currently the best performing local side.

They are on 57 points, just ahead of Ilkley thanks to a better rubbers' average.
