Sir, - I refer to your leading article "Flights of Fancy" (D&S Oct 31).
Does it really matter what the airport is called when rail access to it is non existent?
Manchester Airport had new track built and has direct access from all parts of the North. Newcastle Metro serves Newcastle Airport with a very frequent service.
Teesside Airport potentially had a much better situation than either Manchester or Newcastle as a passenger line ran along side the airport perimeter.
However after all these years a station still has not been built.
It is easier for rail passengers from Middlesborough to go to Manchester than it is to go to Teesside.
The Darlington & Stockton Times should be campaigning about the creation of rail links rather than worrying about name changes.
