STORE manager Gary Baker has proved he relishes a challenge.
Shortly after opening the new Specsavers opticians in Consett, he signed up as part of the firm's team that took part in a sponsored abseil off the Baltic arts centre in Gateshead.
He said: "We had a fantastic time at the abseil. I think we were all pretty nervous, however as there were a lot of us, it helped to ease the tension - although it took a few hours for the butterflies to disappear.
"More importantly we have been overwhelmed with the response people who have been extremely generous with their donations."
The team raised about £350 for the Royal National Institute for the Blind
