In the Washington Aged Peoples Trophy, Hartlepool Town were in top form, beating Whitehill FC 6-0 in the Washington Aged Peoples Trophy.

They were in front after ten minutes when Dave Smith volleyed in from 15 yards. Smith made it 2-0 before Steve Doyle made it 3-0 with a 20-yard drive. The fourth came when James Parkinson cut inside to beat the keeper from a narrow angle before Scott Cartwright wrapped up the victory.

Ebchester went out going down 5-2 at home to Gateshead A.

Gateshead's marksmen were, David Snowdon (2), Andrew Peacock, Ray Oskin, and Emmanuel Akosah. Carl Price and Peter Wilson replied for Ebchester. Belford House beat Durham Victoria Bridge to go through to the next round. Mark Green grabbed four of the goals, Michael Agnew the other, with Lee Pratt scoring the Vic's consolation. Durham City Reserves went out of the competition, losing 4-1 away to Coxhoe Athletic. Daryle Hall put Coxhoe in front with a header from a corner, Gary O'Hara (penalty) made it two, but Durham were back in it when a throw-in from John Hurst found its way through Coxhoe's defence into goal. This annoyed all Coxhoe's players, who protested that the ball had not been played after the throw. Michael Cairns chipped over the keeper to make it 3-1 and a free-kick by Andrew Richardson found Dean Smithson, who made it 4-1. Simonside SC won their tie with a 2-1 win against Birtley Town Reserves. A volley by David Basham put them ahead on 13 minutes. He then made it 2-0 when he beat three defenders before hitting a vicious shot from 25 yards. Steve Swinney pulled a goal back for Birtley. Six goals for Durham University, scored by Neil Goodman (3), Chris Hose, Andrew Murdock and Michael Walker against Seaham Mallard put the University in the next round away to Coxhoe Athletic. Lee Cuthbert scored both of Seaham's goals. In the Auckland Charity Cup, Shildon Railway made progress into the next round with a 5-3 home win against Darlington Cleveland Bridge. Andrew Heavyside opened the scoring for Shildon after two minutes. Wayne King equalised for the Bridge on 15 minutes and they went in front when Stuart Hardy scored in the 30th minute. Stuart Blackett equalised for the Railway when he beat two defenders before slotting the ball home. The Bridge went in front again just before half-time when Stuart Hardy got his second. After the break the Railway were rewarded with an equaliser from Stefan McGowan. Two more goals from Stuart Blacket and Neil Robinson made it 5-3 to Shildon. Brandon Prince Bishop won their tie 4-0 away to Shildon Elm Road WMC. David Fort (2), Michael Fort, and Graham Stobbs the goalscorers.
