Loftus Ath v Lingdale Utd: Lingdale won this game to the dismay of most of the spectators.

Loftus could and should have been two goals ahead before Lingdale took the lead in the 20th minute through Iseton. Hall did find the equaliser just two minutes later only for Lingdale to regain the lead a few minutes later, again through Iseton. For the rest of the first half it was mostly Loftus creating the chances and should have gone into the break ahead if not for woeful finishing. The 2nd half continued in the same ilk, Loftus dominating but being unable to find the net. Lingdale made sure of the points after a break and a good finish from Iseton for his hat-trick in the last minute.

Stakesby Arms v Grangetown YCC

In a fairly one sided game Grangetown came out comfortable winners. The first half saw Stakesby creating numerous chances but failing to convert before Grangetown scored the only goal of the half after a dubious counter attack saw them run free, much to the disbelief of the stakesby players who were sure they had palyed him offside. Satakesy had chances to get back into the game before the floodgates opoened, a further 6 goals, 4 of which came in the last 15 minutes, sealed an emphatic if not flattering 7-0 victory for the visitors at the showfield.

Gt Ayton v South Bank (York)

This second round fixture turned out to be a goal feast. As in the first round Gt Ayton hosted a team from the York League. The visitors were the first to register with an early goal, which silenced the home supporters, who had gathered in numbers to watch the game. By half time Ayton had begun to take control, Ripley and Simpson nothching goals for the home side. After the interval Ayton looked to be well in control when Ripley added his second from a solo run and Simpson volleyed his second. With a three gaol lead Ayton were thinking of the 3rd round only to be shocked by a reilient South Bank who came back to level the game at 4 - 4 . Once again Aytonincreased the goal margin with a goal from Murray and Ripley completing his hat trick. The home side looked to be coasting again, only to have the jitters in defence and concede two goals to take the game to extra time. In the first period both sides showed caution and no goals were scored. In the final period Ayton once again went into a two goal advantage, both coming from Ripley. The vever say die approach from South Bank continued, they pulled one goal back, then, on the final whistle Ayton gave away a penalty, which was successfully converted to take the game to a shoot out. Having had the game won on at least three occasions the Ayton players lost the final battle with the penalty result 4-3 in favour of the visitors.

Spennnithorne & Harmby v

Highland Laddie

Although Laddie started well they found themselves two gaols down after only ten minutes. First a sweetly taken free kick from Reeves which sailed into the top corner then a tap in by Dixon after a laddie defensive mix up. Ladddie then totally dominated the rest of the half with chances for Rye, Lawther and a Nesbitt piledriver all failing to find the target, then on the stroke of half time a Lawther free kick found Combellack for him to head the ball home. While the laddie continued on top in the second half it took until the 70th minute for the equaliser to arrive courtesy of Lawther. Laddie pressed and pressed but couldn't find a way past the opposition keeper, who played a blinding game. Second half sub, Daynes found himself clean through in the 90th minute but a point blank save tok the game into extra time. Ten minutes into the 1st period Laddie took the lead when Burns tapped home after good work from Hairs and Corner. Then Combellack broke through to net the 4th and seal Laddies place in the next round.

Teesside Link v Lingdale Tavern

Lingdale travelled to Thornaby to play Teesside Link of the second division of the Teesside League and were under pressure from the start. Keeper Moore was called on to make a string of saves as the Teesside forwards made things difficult for the Tavern defence. Then Lingdales's Hood and Brown settled the team and the midfield led by Calvert and Darcy began to make chances for Breckon and Ward up front. The home team took the lead when a break down the right found Jackson unmarked for him to score from close range.Lingdale almost levelled just before the break but Breckon's free kick curled just wide. The second session saw Lingdale playing well with Ward and Breckon causing problems for the Teesside defence and when Breckon was fouled in the box he made no mistake from the spot to level the game.

With the game in the balance a bad challenge on Lingdale's Mike Fowle left him badly injured and having to go to hospital, the resulting delay led to the match having to be abandoned.

The Northern Echo Cup

Grosmont v Goldsborough

Goldsborough started the better team and went ahead after ten minutes through Marsay, however ten minutes later a defensive error allowed Walker through to shoot past the Goldsborough keeper for the equialiser. This shook the Goldsborough team and they then took control goals from Dent and Marsay giving them a comfortable lead at the break.

Grosmont came out strongly in the 2nd half, Walker quickly scoring his 2nd to bring Grosmont back into the game. Once again Goldsborough were spurred into action a 60th minute goal from Welford made it 4-2 then Marsy beat Grosmont keeper, Jeffrey, to complete his hat-trick. Grosmont continued to look for goals but couldn't break down the Goldsborough defence leaving the visitors with thje 5-2 win.

Lealholm v Hinderwell

A well taken corner after ten minutes led to a free header for Crooks to give Lealholm an early lead. A couple more chances came their way but the first was headed over the bar the Hinderwell keeper, Robinson, made a good save from a Crooks shot.

In the 30th minute a pass from the Hinderwell defence was charged down by Cook who ran past the oncoming keeper to give Lealholm a two-goal advantage. For the first 25 minutes of the second half Hinderwell were well on top. They were unlucky to have a penalty appeal tuned down thern Lealholm keeper Thompson had to make a number of good saves.

As time went on Hinderwell began to take more riske in an attempt to level, leaving Lealholm the chance to break. With 20 minutes left a Wlham cross was headed in by Butler and five minutes later Carruthers made it four after picking up the ball from a Lealholm corner. Hinderwell just missed the target on two occasions in the last few minutes, the 4-0 result not doing justice to the way they had played.
