A READING challenge for youngsters proved to be a resounding success.
A total of 57 children started the Reading Maze challenge at the library and information centre in Great Ayton and 52 of them completed it.
They were all presented with their certificates by county councillor Carl Les at a ceremony in the library. Councillor Les, above, the executive member with responsibility for libraries, archives and arts, said: "Every year libraries in North Yorkshire take part in the national reading challenge which encourages children to use their local library during the summer holidays.
"This year's theme was the Reading Maze and children taking part received stickers, bookmarks, door-hangers, medals and certificates for reading six library books. We are extremely pleased that so many children have successfully completed the course."
