A LOVABLE dog who has captured the hearts of charity and kennel workers is in need of a new home.

Alfie, a Bedlington terrier cross breed, was handed to North-East Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue when a change in personal circumstances meant his owner could no longer look after him.

The affectionate three-year-old will make a perfect pet for an active dog lover who is home most of the day, said charity volunteer Angela Taylor.

She said: "Alfie is an absolutely lovely dog with loads of character and is so easy to manage, we would love to see him find a really good home soon. I think he would be best in a home with no other dogs, though he may live happily with a bitch.

"Everyone who has seen him has fallen in love with him, but unfortunately we cannot offer him a permanent home."

Alfie has been temporarily placed in kennels at Seagold Centurion Equestrian Centre, in Hunwick, where staff are so fond of him they have bought him toys.

Anyone interested in giving Alfie, or one of the many rescue dogs and puppies waiting for a new family, a home, can contact Ms Taylor on (01388) 812782.

All potential owners will be subject to a home visit and no working homes will be considered.
