VOLUNTEERS at a community centre have created an arts and crafts centre for people with dementia.
Charity workers at The Clevearc Training Centre, in Stockton's Maritime Road, have created the facility after receiving £5,000 of DIY products.
The equipment was granted by B&Q and the Clevearc Centre was selected as one of 20 winners out of 3,300 entries across the UK.
The group used the products to transform an upstairs room into an arts and crafts centre with a kitchen unit and seating area. The centre offers free training and support to those who care for people with dementia.
Frank Cook, MP for Stockton North, unveiled the arts and crafts centre. He said: "I was thrilled to hear about this scheme at the outset and B&Q deserve every commendation for supporting Clevearc in this manner. Now that I am able to see the fruits of these joint efforts, I am overjoyed at the range of opportunities now open to my constituents."
