A SCHOOL must raise standards in three core subjects and improve attendance levels, Government Ofsted inspectors have said.
Bader Primary and Nursery School, in Thornaby, gives children a solid educational foundation, the inspectors' report noted.
However, they said the school needed to raise standards in English, mathematics and science as well as improve attendance.
Positive aspects included very high standards in music. The school was one of the few in the country invited to sing at the Royal Festival Hall in London in 2000 and 2001.
Headteacher David Miller said: "We have taken on board everything that the inspectors have reported and with help from the LEA (local education authority) we are working on an action plan.
"The plan will focus on improving teaching methods as well as improving attendance figures, which will all go towards raising standards.
"The LEA is working with us to put together our plan and we are confident that every support will be given to help our school move forward."
