NEALE COOPER has finally found the solution to Hartlepool United's problem right side, writes Paul Fraser.

The Pool boss is expected to unveil a loan signing from a higher league club later today and he will be available for selection for Saturday's visit of Swindon Town.

Cooper has not revealed the identity of the winger but he is hoping the new blood will help boost the rest of his squad after the weekend's disappointments at Plymouth Argyle.

Centre-midfielder Darrell Clarke and centre-forward Eifion Williams have both played on the right flank and now the Pool chief has acted to draft in a more natural right-sided midfielder.

"We're very hopeful of bringing in a couple of new faces this week," said Cooper, who is also likely to sign Australian striker Joel Porter on a short-term deal.

"We've been very close already on a number of occasions, but things have fallen through at the last minute, which is frustrating.

"New faces in a squad give everyone a lift, plus it reminds even the regulars that no-one has a guaranteed place on the team-sheet."

Cooper is a friend of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and suggestions last night were that the loan signing could be a young professional at Old Trafford.

The Pool manager is likely to make changes to the side which lost 2-0 at Home Park on Saturday.

Teenage striker Jack Wilkinson could be one to make way after failing to repeat his heroics of the previous week when he grabbed the winner in the 2-1 success over Rushden & Diamonds
