In Division Two Billingham Town are experiencing a lean spell and need to find their early season form, they lost 2-1 at home to Hylton Castle and are now second from bottom.

They led 1-0 at the interval and looked like gaining a home win but Hylton came back strongly after the restart, eventually drawing level through Peter Joyce. A draw looked on the cards but an unexpected late 25-yard volley rocketed into the top corner of the net from Joyce gave Hylton a 2-1 victory.

In a high scoring game Wynyard Vets lost 5-3 away to Spring Gardens and drop into fifth place, Spring Gardens now lie in third spot.

Winning the lottery appears easier than forecasting Langley Park Rams Head's results, they drew 1-1 at home to Wingate. Trailing 1-0 at the interval missing gilt-edged chances was the reason, they equalised after the restart courtesy of Tommy Buxton. Despite continuous attack they just could not put the ball past Wingate's keeper who played a blinder.

In Division Three Crook Town drew 1-1 at home to Taylors, quite a good performance as Taylors, prior to this game, were the divisional leaders but are now in third spot. The first half saw Taylors having the edge and scoring to lead 1-0 at the break. The restart saw Crook going on the attack but Taylors defence held firm and their keeper pulled off several great saves to deny Crook. Eventually the deadlock was broken when John Roberts was fouled in the box and Francis Robinson slotted home the spot kick.

Durham City Strollers had an off day, losing 4-1 at home to Houghton Mill Inn who turned in a much better display of football than their lowly position suggests. Martin Maggiore was the Strollers' star player who worked tirelessly throughout but to no avail.

In Division Four Wynyard OB lost 1-0 at half home to Winstons. Winstons scored first when, after ten minutes, Phil Scott cleverly chipped the keeper. The Old Boys never gave up attacking but keeper John ??? was in super form making several saves to thwart them even then the Old Boys were unlucky as Keith Moody saw his shot beating the keeper but hitting the post and Billy Rogers' flying header hitting the bar and rebounding to safety.

In The Premier Darlington Croft won 3-2 away to the Lord Seaham. The Lord Seaham opened in fine style and went 2-0 in the first quarter. Peter Robson and Jimmy Hayden scoring. This early reverse seemed to spur the Croft on and they rallied and came back strongly and put the home side under heavy pressure. Paul Power pulled one back and close on half time Roger Wick levelled the scores 2-2. The restart saw end to end football but, if anything, Darlington had the edge. The game was settled when Ian Raper received the ball and, seeing the keeper off his line, lobbed the ball from 25 yards over his head into the net to put the visitors 3-2 in the lead.

Norton-Stockton drew 3-3 at home to Blackhall Hardwick. The first half belonged to Blackhall who led 3-1 at the break but the second was Norton's who fought back strongly to level the game 3-3. Scorers were Bobby Hatfield, Trevor Carter and Mark Steele for Norton and Freeman, Healey and Cudlipp for Blackhall.

In Division One Consett Duke of Wellington are clear leaders by five points, they won 2-0 at home to the Touchdown Hotel. Andy Edwards shot them into the lead after ten minutes but Paul Quinn failed to increase their lead when his spot kick hit the post and was cleared. the second half saw Consett still on top and the issue was settled when Ian Henderson made no mistake with a second penalty to put them 2-0 in the lead.

Newton Aycliffe kept on course for promotion, holding too many big guns for Hartlepool Catholic Club whom they defeated at home 4-0. Neil Morns opened the scoring with a 25-yards pile driver and then scored his second goal of the match in with a spot kick to make it 2-0. Lee Killit added a third and Geoff Peaden scored five minutes from time to win the game 4-0 for Aycliffe.

Barnard Castle Glaxo scored first after two minutes but Wardley quickly levelled and their game suffered as Wardley slowly took over and totally dominated the game scoring seven goals to finish 8-2 home winner. Man of the match was Paul Thu who scored five goals, Tony Joyce, Kenny Nesworthy and Keith Watson each scoring one goal.
