"I'LL certainly enter him in the Arkle," said trainer Richard Guest after Our Armageddon won the Ascot novice chase on Saturday, adding: "This horse could be anything."

He has certainly given our Fifteen to Follow a tremendous start and Larry McGrath was seen to great advantage in this 23-lengths win.

Leading jumps owner and Yorkshireman Sir Robert Ogden had two wins on Saturday, Iris Royal at Ascot and Calling Brave at Aintree, both trained at Lambourn by Nicky Henderson.

Mary Reveley's good form again showed at Market Rasen on Thursday last, with a double from Overstrand and Henrianjames. Mick Easterby sent Minster Glory to Wincanton to land his fifth win in a row. This was the veteran trainer's first runner at the course.

Ferdy Murphy also continues in cracking form. The West Witton trainer sent Ulusara all the way to Hereford to win under Davy Russell. This winner was bred by Norman Mason. The Murphy-Russell magic worked again at Aintree on Saturday when Ichi Beau won for the seventh time in his career in the handicap chase.

At Catterick, Neil Mulholland was in the saddle to win for Murphy on Looking Forward, running in the colours of Mrs G Handley and bred by Steve Kettlewell. The Yorkshire meeting also saw Brian Rothwell's Lady Netbetsports and Ann Duffield's Allegedly Red dead heat in the maiden hurdle.

George Moore was pleased with Argento's win and Patrick Haslam won with Peter Hill-Walker and Mrs C Barclay's Maunby Rocker. He sent Maunby Raver down to Lingfield on Wednesday to take a Flat race, too, young Rory Moore adding his second win on this young horse.

The first meeting this season to fall to frost was at Newcastle, where Monday's fixture was abandoned.

Sedgefield and Wetherby fared better, though, and had some exciting jumping.

Davy Russell added one at Sedgefield for South Yorkshire trainer Ron Thompson, partnering Cooling Castle, beating Graham Lee on George Moore's Quarter Masters. Lee won for Malcolm Jefferson, a welcome return to the winner's enclosure after a lengthy pause. Permit holder Noel McCormack, an equine dentist from Medomsley, won with Didifon.

Russ Garritty was the star of Wetherby's Wednesday meeting, landing three, including for our Fifteen on Silver Knight. This chasing recruit looked very impressive and we expect great things to come.

Tim Easterby and owner Chris Stevens were also responsible for his second winner, Kentucky Blue, in the novice event. John Quinn's Archie Babe brought up his third.

Tim Walford had a rather lucky winner with Petrea, David Crosse up, as Huka Lodge, leading at the last, fell. Mel Brittain sent out his recent bumper winner First Harmony to a second win in the NH Flat race.

On the level, Tim Easterby, David Barron and Ian McInnes all won at Southwell, while Tony Culhane, not content to rest on his laurels having reached his 100, partnered Sharp Hat for David Chapman to another Wolverhampton sprint win on Friday last.

Finally, hopeful news from the Mark Johnston stable of Attraction, the 1,000 Guineas possible, who suffered a foot injury, a pedal bone fracture. The trainer said this week that she was 60-40 to be fit again for next year's race. The filly has been resting at the Duke of Roxburgh's Floors Stud, recent x-rays look promising and she is due to return to Kingsley House on Monday.

* There will be a stable visit to Alan Swinbank's yard on Sunday, December 14. Details on 01642 472043.
