Wilton 1st continued their impressive unbeaten run with a 3-0 home win over Tynedale 1st.

The Teessiders struggled to take control of the first half, Tynedale employing spoiling tactics in what appeared to be an attempt to grab a point from the match, however with only a single shot on target all match it was merely a matter of time before Wilton took the lead.

After harsh words from captain Peter Elgey, who played out of his skin and thoroughly deserved man of the match, Wilton broke the deadlock hard running Scott Morton picked up a defensive error and slotted home, Dom Binks cleared up from a penalty corner for Wilton's second and striker John Tombling completed the scoring with a net-busting undercut that whistled past the keepers helmet.

Wilton's 2nd faced a tough double-header weekend, with games to league leaders Guisborough at home on Saturday and away to Hild Bede on Sunday.

Wilton riding high on confidence at third spot in division two before the weekend had the opportunity to top the table by winning both games.

Both games proved to be real tests for Wilton, Guisborough were very strong and took the lead early on and looked as if they would hold this scoreline until the end with Wilton unable to break down their strong backline.

After the break however Wilton found a gap, Mark Whitworth beat the defender for pace and cleverly wrong-footed the goalkeeper. Minutes later Wilton were stunned when their striker caused havoc in the defence and slotted home.

Men of the match Alex Harrison and Glen Cutler battled hard but could not do any more to gain a share of the spoils.

Sunday was disappointing too, Wilton were the wrong side of a 2-0 scoreline despite heroic efforts by man of the match rookie goalkeeper Shaun Wallace, he got in front of a glut of Bede chances to keep the scoring to a minimum, Wilton didn't lay down however, spurred on by midfielder Bob Leason who shared man of the match points, they managed to hit the post three time's but were unable to find the net, Wilton will be looking to improve on Saturday as they face another tough test away to Norton 2nd.

Wilton's youthful 3rd suffered another heavy defeat this week at the hands of Richmond.

Without regular keeper Peter Lawson, youngster Stuart Blount donned the pads, but despite his best efforts, and given that experienced defender Greame Parnaby had a nightmare first half, Wilton were well beaten 7-0.

Man of the match Andy Gray worked hard in midfield but could do nothing to stop the Richmond onslaught.

In the ladies Durham clubs League at Silksworth Sunderland Wilton ladies faced Durham University 3rd. The students won the pushback and pressed forward from the start.

Two penalty corners resulted in them having an early 2-0 lead.

This spurred Wilton on as they eventually settled into the game after a torrid start.

Wilton fired themselves back into the game after they won a penalty corner from which Sharon Smith found the equaliser.

Wilton started the second half the stronger of the two teams and consistent pressure paid off with player of the match Christine Blake snatching the equaliser.

Wilton continued to push forward throughout the second half but failed to convert the chances produced and had to settle for a draw.
