Spennymoor this week signed their fifth goalkeeper of the season.

Moors have lost recent signing Chris Tierney back to Northern League club Horden and his replacement, Martin Kearney, is going to be missing for five weeks because of suspension.

Moors secretary Brian Boughen said: "Martin was sent off for an offence in college football, which means that he is going to be missing until after Christmas."

Moors boss Tony Lee therefore contacted his counterpart at Harrogate, John Reed, and signed Ashley Connor on a month's loan. Connor will be the fifth keeper between the posts for Moors this season, following Jon Collinson, Kevin Duncan, Kearney and Tierney.

Moors are hoping to put some inconsistent home form behind them tomorrow when they travel to Barrow in a league game.

Bishop Auckland manager Brian Honour is hoping that his players have benefited from a week off.

The fixture schedule gave Bishops a free Saturday last week, and Honour believes that it was a good opportunity to recharge the batteries.

"Training has been a little bit like pre-season, in which we can work on a few things instead of playing matches. Plus it's given us a chance to get the injured players back to full fitness."

Bishop Auckland midfielder Chris Moore is having a trial at Third Division Carlisle United.

Moore has been chased by several clubs this season, and has already had a couple of trials, and was due to play against Tranmere Reserves for the Cumbrians in midweek.

Bishops have arranged a "night with Peter Beardsley" at Tindale Crescent WMC on Friday January 16th, beginning at 7.30. Tickets costing £10 are available from the club. Radio presenter Alan Wright will be hosting the evening.

Blyth have been drawn at home to Barrow in the third round of the FA Trophy on January 10, after the Cumbrians beat Harrogate Town 4-2 in their second round replay on Tuesday.

Whitby are out of the competition after they lost 1-0 in their replay at Bradford Park Avenue on Wednesday night, leaving Blyth as the last North-East representatives.

Spennymoor fans won't feel much better after Stafford, the team who beat them last Saturday, were drawn away to Conference club and former winners Scarborough.

Radcliffe striker Jody Banim has been transferred to Conference club Shrewsbury for a £20,000 fee. Banim recently scored in twelve successive matches.
