Woodmans Arms 2 Ennis Square 1: Woodman's Arms produced one of their best performances of the season to beat title contenders Ennis Square.

They opened strongly and although both sides had their chances, it was the Woodies who struck first when Mark Jones linked up well with Paul Reed before firing home on the half hour. Fifteen minutes into the second half, Reed struck the crucial second goal when he rounded the keeper before sliding the ball home from a tight angle and the Woodman's might well have put the game out of sight had they not missed a penalty five minutes later. In the event, Ennis reduced the arrears with ten minutes remaining but despite their best efforts, they could not find the back of the net again.

British Steel Sp. 2 Coulby Newham 2

Coulby took the lead in the 12th minute and they kept their noses in front until five minutes into the second half when James Joyce hit a half volley. Within ten minutes, Coulby hit back, scoring directly from a corner kick but BSS were no slouches themselves and Liam Bedford marked his debut with an equalizer from the edge of the area.

Thornaby Mand. 3 Stokesley SC 1

Mandale moved up into third place with this win although they were made to battle all the way by a determined Stokesley side. They took the lead when a shot from Andrew Dyson came back to Steve Lambert who fired home from ten yards out.

Paul Large equalised for Stokesley shortly before half time and they started the second the brighter of the two sides going close on a number of occasions. Mandale gradually began to reassert their authority however and went in front when Dyson latched onto a long through ball from Lee O'Toole before scoring from the edge of the area. The two combined for Mandale's crucial third when O'Toole crossed for Dyson to tap in from close range.

Thornaby Village 0 South Pa. Rang. 4

Rangers had the upper hand in this game particularly once they had taken the lead midway through the first half when Graham Watson fired home the first of his hat trick. Rangers continued to outplay the Village and they extended their lead still further with Watson going through one on one for goal number two and making no mistake from the penalty spot for his third.

The dismissal of one of their players did not help Thornaby Village's cause and their miserable afternoon was completed when Dean Melville put the ball into his own net.

North Riding Challenge Cup

Pickering Royal Oak 2 M'brough PO 4

Paul Davies gave the Posties an early lead from the penalty spot and despite being reduced to ten men following a sending off, they increased their lead on the stroke of half time when Davies was again on hand to scramble the ball home following a corner. Any thoughts that Post Office had of an easy victory were dispelled within ten minutes of the restart when Pickering hit back to equalise with two goals in quick succession. This brought the Stokesley League side back to life and they responded in the best possible way when Paul McGlade set up John Simon to restore their lead. Ten minutes from time, Davies rounded off a fine performance by completing his hat trick and making certain of a place in the next round.
