Norton and Stockon Ancients: The Under-16s progressed to the last eight of the Durham Cup in a hard fought 1-0 victory over a well organised Shiny Row team.

There were very few chances in the game but the deciding goal came in the second half, a fine header from Leo Preston following a cross from Shaun Taylor. Shiny Row were very sporting in defeat, leaving Norton to look forward to their quarter final match in January.

Norton Under-15 B were beaten by a very strong New Marske side. Although the score line was 4-0, Norton were not out played. Chris Atkinson had no chance with any of the goals, and man of the match Tom Worton bossed the midfield. Norton did create some good chances but were unable to convert them.

On a heavy, sloping Prissick pitch, N&SA Under-13 B got off to a flyer when Jamma fired home after two minutes. Macca then took a tumble on the edge of the box - up stepped Jamma to despatch a direct free kick into the top corner. A Coulby corner was headed clear but the Norton squad watched as the follow-up shot from the edge of the box found the back of the net. Jamma's sprint down the right touchline produced Ancient's third, a volley from Cooky, half time 3-1. In the second half Ancients camped in Coulby territory and Jamma hit two more within minutes of the restart, the first courtesy of the pass of the game from Liam Hardman.

Jamma turned provider for Cooky to add the sixth and seventh, (he also added a superb ninth with a run and angled rising finish from his new right back position!), with Macca nicking one in between. Midfielder Jon Stephenson was inspirational and outstanding again, as was the hardworking and skilful Michael Bell, as Norton's powerful second half attacking display earned them a semi final place. Coulby Newham 1, Norton 9.

An entertaining game in which both Richmond and Norton Under-13 A showed their ability. Attacks were traded by both teams in the early periods, Norton benefiting first. An interception and early pass to Roberts who caught them on the break and flicked the ball over the approaching keeper.

Richmond responded later in the first half. After the break Richmond started the stronger scoring early. Norton then scored their second through Bennett forcing extra time to be played. All square after the first period Norton then had a goal disallowed for handball. The game now to be decided on penalties, the first two for Norton were saved all seemed to be over but Cotts stretched well making two terrific saves. It was now sudden death each team scoring and both keepers making further saves, until Richmond's keeper stepped up and converted. Richmond 2-2 Norton (6-5 on penalties).

Norton Under-12s scored first in a scrappy game against Cleveland Juniors. The first goal came from a good strike from James Nicholson and the second from full back Charlie Inman, after a good free kick from Warren Pearson. Charlie Inman was involved in the third goal and Laverick's first. A great ball was pumped forward for Laverick to chest down and finish. Jake Laverick then got his second goal, and Norton's 4th. Cleveland Juniors scored two consolation goals, but Norton never moved out of first gear.

An excellent cup quarter final between two good teams. Leven dominated the first half but Norton

Norton Under-10 B took the game to Leven in the second half with Liam Woodhouse and Lewis Wing going close. In the last minute of normal time, Aiden Cattermole went close but Leven keeper saved well. Leven took the lead late in the first half of extra time, then Norton went close to equalising when Blakemore and Woodhouse hit both posts, with Norton pushing forward Leven scored two breakaway goals. Best goal of the game went to Norton when Wing scored from a 20 yard free kick ending the game 3-1 to Leven after extra time.

Norton Under-15 A played Marton in the quarter finals. Norton knew from the whistle that Marton would bring the game to them after knocking them out of the cup in the 1/4 final last season, but it was Norton who opened the scoring when the Marton keeper didn't clear the ball and Joe burns lobed the ball over him to watch it roll behind the line. Both teams went onto to play some good football with Norton defending well. Just before half time, Marton equalized to make the score 1-1. Norton upped the pace in the second half and played some great football and it wasn't long before they scored again through Shaun Toulson. Final score 2-1 to Norton.

Marton

Marton started against Hardwick with a positive attitude and quickly stamped their authority on this tricky cup match, the centre midfield pairing of Carroll and Spence were in good form and dominated the early exchanges and it was no surprise the visitors went into the lead, Rowney finishing in style after good work on the left flank from Colligan.

Marton were playing good football and as a result created some excellent opportunities but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept the score at 1-0 until good wing play from Jeffries and Hill who were combining well down the right crossed for Rowney to volley home.

The home team didn't give up and were a threat when ever they played the long ball over the top for the lively Carson to run on to but Worton and Walker in the heart of the Marton defence held firm and on the stroke of half time Tymon added the third scoring from the penalty spot after Johnston was upended in the box.

The second half started the way the first ended with Marton scoring again through Johnston, Tymon then scored his second rounding the keeper to slot home.

Hardwick had nothing to lose and to their credit pushed bodies forward in search of a goal but were denied by Parker who made two smart saves, as the game went on gaps in the home defence began to appear and Jeffries made the most of the space to cut inside and score with a left foot shot.

Henderson ended the scoring finishing of good approach work from Kelly, Jackson and Kell.
