A GALA Christmas concert in aid of Darlington's annual Giving Tree appeal is being staged next week.
The Arts Centre, in Vane Terrace, will be hosting the event on Friday, starting at 7.30pm.
People are invited to sing along to their favourite carols and enjoy music provided by the Milbank Singers and local soloists Paulina Egan-Rossi, Bill Greenwood, Alan Phelps and Janet Robinson.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions, and include mulled wine and mince pies. For tickets, telephone (01325) 346841.
All proceeds go to the Giving Tree appeal, which is in full swing once again, aiming to bring festive cheer to needy and vulnerable people across the Darlington borough.
Shoppers are being encouraged to buy an extra gift and leave it at collection points in the town up to Thursday.
The gifts will then be distributed to youngsters and adults who otherwise would not receive gifts for Christmas.
Collection points are: The Northern Echo offices in Priestgate; Matalan in Neasham Road; the Herald and Post office in Duke Street; Asda in Whinbush Way; and the Alpha Radio studio in Woodland Road.
