PREPARATIONS for the 32nd charity Boxing Day Dip at Seaton Carew are well under way.

So far, 302 people have registered for the event, organised by Hartlepool Lions.

It will start at 11.30am at the Seaton Carew Social Club, in Station Lane, when fundraisers will begin a parade to the sea, which will be headed by a piper and led by Mike Dowson, president of Hartlepool Lions and Councillor Carl Richardson chairman of Hartlepool Borough Council.

The dip is open to any individual, team or group wishing to raise money for their organisation or nominated charity.

The Hartlepool Lions keeps 20 per cent of all the sponsor money collected for its charity account, which is then distributed to causes in the local community.

There will be trophies and cups awarded to the youngest and oldest dippers, those who raise the most money and the best fancy dress.

An awards evening will be held in March.
