Tow Law Area League: Billy Row Club stretched their lead at the top of the table to two points after they only dropped three points to the visiting Cornsay Royal Oak.

The second placed, Esh Stag's Head struggled at home before winning by the odd point against Tow Law Rose and Crown.

Chris Close won the only singles for the Royal Oak whilst Billy Row Club had wins from Harold Parkin, Keith Garland, Gordon Walsh, John Wilkes and Edna Dawson. The Oak took the first two doubles but the Club completed their good win by taking the final point.

Second placed, Esh Stag's Head found themselves four down to the visiting Rose and Crown, who had wins from Ken Gwynnette, Dorothy Mowbray, Vena Gwynnette and Alan Spence. The Stag's recovered with singles from Mally Walker and Mike Wightman and completed their victory by taking all three doubles.

Willington League

Hunwick Joiners Arms pulled off an odd point victory at Willington Brewer's Droop to stay in second place in the table and fade the hopes of the home side of landing a trophy position. The Brewer's had singles wins from Ron Smith and John Ferens, while the Joiners went ahead with singles wins from Michael McClurg, Dave Robson and Ian Richardson. They went further ahead when Chris Burnham and Michael McClurg won the first doubles but the Brewer's recovered to take the second doubles through Billy Wragg and Dave Gallagher.

Willington Lion and Unicorn lead the table by five points from the Joiners Arms, who are seven points ahead of Willington Cottles.

Newhouse Club were able to open up a two-point lead at the top of the table when they recovered at Tow Law New Market A to win in the decider. Alan Hennigan gave the visitors the lead but Terry Taylor and Goff Bramfit moved the New Market ahead. Harry Dinsdale levelled the match and than Ian Dinsdale took Newhouse to victory when he beat Tom Dowson in the decider.

Crook Travellers Rest B moved within one point of the First Division leaders, Crook Belle Vue, who did not have a match, when they beat the visiting Crook Golden Fleece by the odd point. The Travellers had singles wins from Aaron Cowan, Doug Bowey, Bill Fairhurst and Jim Ainsley, whilst Syd Booth and Colin Howe replied. The Fleece also took the doubles through Dave March and Gus Witton.

In the Second Division, Crook Coach and Horses B remain in the top spot after they only dropped one point on their visit to Crook Olde Horse Shoe B, whose only point came when Kevin Emmerson won a singles. The Coach winners were Kelly Scott, Gerald Parkin, Stephen Burke, David Haygarth and Les Scott with David Stephenson and Gerald Parkin taking the doubles.

Crook Belle Vue lead the First Division by one point from the Traveller's Rest B, who are three ahead of the Crook Royal Sun.
