A CHILDREN'S ward has received a cash boost towards the redevelopment of its facilities.
The children's unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital has been presented with a £3,000 cheque.
The sum was raised at a casino night and auction held in the Morritt Arms Hotel, at Greta Bridge, near Barnard Castle.
Peter Philip, of the Morritt Arms, said: "It is always pleasing to be able to support a local charity, and in this instance it is even more poignant as many of our customers have children who would rely on the Memorial if the worst happened."
