AN RAF officer has been recognised by the Pakistani embassy in London for his work with youngsters from ethnic minorities.
Sergeant Mohammed 'Mo' Kahn, 39, from RAF Linton on Ouse, near York, was awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours List.
Following the award, he was invited to the High Commission for Pakistan to meet High Commissioner Maleeha Lodhi, who said the honour was a recognition of his dedication to other people.
Dr Lodhi told him: "It acknowledges your selfless devotion of time, commitment and energy to making a true difference in other people's lives."
Sgt Kahn is responsible for raising awareness of the RAF among young people from ethnic minorities in northern England.
He has organised team-building and training for schools, groups and youth organisations in Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Leeds and Bradford and events at the Linton camp gymnasium.
He said: "Activities like these encourage young people to learn how to work together as a team and break down perceived cultural barriers."
