ART inspired by memories of the First World War has gone on show at a North-East regimental museum.
Memories of History is a collection of paintings, drawings, sketches, etchings and photographs from the Imperial War Museum, in London. The exhibition, featuring about 70 pieces, opened at the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery at the weekend.
It is made up of work by contemporary artists John Walker, Raymond Arnold, Peter Cattrell and Ben Brett. Although they were born decades apart, all are linked by having a member of their family who was involved in the Great War.
Memories of History is running alongside a second exhibition, Boxes, compiled by novelist, historian and film director Andrew Sinclair. Both can be viewed in the museum's upstairs gallery, which is open daily from 10am to 4pm.
Admission is £5 for adults and £1.25 for children and concessions. There is also a £6.25 family ticket.
