ARCHITECTS in the region have launched a campaign to promote their work in improving the environment.
They have been holding a series of free lectures and debates in Newcastle to explore the role of the architect in modern society.
The programme, run through Northern Architecture, of Newcastle, concludes with:
* February 11: Architecture and Quality; an address by Graham Watts, chief executive of the Construction Industry Council, in the Bedson Teaching Centre, Victoria Road, the University of Newcastle, at 1pm;
* February 25: Architecture and Air; architects Marco Casa-grande and Sami Rintale will talk about their work bringing together architecture, art and environmental projects, in the Lecture Theatre, the Ellison Building, Ellison Terrace, Northumbria University, at 1pm;
* March 10: Architecture and the Historic City; architect Robert Adam will talk about how to design buildings in historic areas, in the Clement Stevens Lecture Theatre, the Agriculture Building, Kings Walk, University of Newcastle, at 1pm;
* March 17: Architecture and the Re-use of Buildings; architect Roger Stephenson will address a seminar in the Clement Stevens Lecture Theatre, Agriculture Building, Kings Walk, University of Newcastle, at 1pm.
