A GROUP of children have given up their spare time to transform part of Redcar.

The cubs and beavers spend their Saturday mornings helping with hedge-planting at Coatham Marsh in an attempt to improve the area's appearance.

They are joined by wardens employed by Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and supported by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's single regeneration budget.

The project helps local people to improve the appearance, accessibility and wildlife habitats of Coatham Marsh and evidence of the team's success is already visible in the form of fencing, gateways, footpaths and hedgerows.
