THE family of a three-year-old boy who died in a car accident are appealing for help after a camera containing the last pictures of him was stolen.

The last photographs of Blake Spencer were taken at Christmas on a digital camera.

Blake was in a child seat in the rear of a green Rover car being driven by his mother when it collided head-on with a Mitsubishi 4x4 early on January 14.

The accident happened in Headwell Lane, Barkston Ash, off the A162, near Saxton, in North Yorkshire.

He was pronounced dead at York District Hospital, where his mother, Kirstie Buckle, 22, from the Saxton area, is still recovering from injuries she sustained.

The silver Fujifilm A405 camera containing the photographs was stolen, along with a laptop computer and a briefcase from her partner's blue Ford Escort car, which has been parked outside a house in Elmete Road, Sherburn-in-Elmet.

The car was broken into between January 19 and 30.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the camera to contact them on (01904) 631321.

PC John Kendal, from Sherburn-in-Elmet police, said: "This is a particularly difficult time for all the members of Blake's family.

"I would ask anyone with any information about this theft to examine their conscience and come forward.

"We will treat any information we receive in confidence. Our main priority is to recover the photographs and get them back to the family."
