DAVID HODGSON fears French misfit Fabian Bossy could scupper his hopes of landing Sunderland striker Neil Teggart.

The Darlington manager last night revealed to Northern Echo Sport Bossy is one of two players cash-strapped Quakers are hoping to offload.

Teggart is training with Quakers this week, with a loan move already agreed in principle with Black Cats boss Mick McCarthy.

However, Hodgson will not be able to complete the move until at least one player makes way.

Football League rules state clubs in administration are allowed a maximum squad of 20 players.

Bossy, who was brought to the club by Mick Tait after a successful trial during the summer, has made just six starts for Quakers.

And since Hodgson's arrival in November, the former Clyde midfielder has failed to make a single appearance.

The club have offered to pay Bossy the remainder of his contract, which expires at the end of the season, and Hodgson said: "I've spoken to Fabian about the situation and we've made sure that he will not lose out financially.

"Unfortunately Fabian has been a little bit awkward with us. I've spoken to him, explained the situation and even though there are two or three players ahead of him in his position, he is still reluctant to leave."

Hodgson is keen to bolster his attacking options and Teggart, top scorer for Sunderland's Under-19 side last season, fits the bill.

"Basically, if Fabian agrees to leave then we are open to sign another player," said Hodgson. "We've brought Neil in to train with us this week but until we create the space there is nothing we can do.

"Hopefully we can still come to some kind of agreement in the next 48 hours. If by then we can't, then there's nothing much we can do about it."

The club has received no further approaches for top scorer Barry Conlon, despite interest from Hartlepool, Rushden and Swansea.

Sheffield Wednesday and Macclesfield have already failed with bids for the six-goal striker, who is keen to remain at the Reynolds Arena.

"Baz has made it clear that he wants to stay so as far as I'm concerned it's end of story," said Hodgson.

Conlon, who has failed to score in his last five games, was jeered by fans when he was substituted in Saturday's 1-0 win over Rochdale.
