THE Women's Royal Voluntary Service is looking for volunteers to visit Sherburn House Residential Home in Durham.
The organisation runs a trolley service on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and said - as well as keeping some volunteers fit - the service provides a bit of cheer for people in the home.
WRVS volunteer Pat Cockburn said: "The trolley service gives a little bit of independence back to the older people living in residential homes.
"In some circumstances we're providing a visitor for people who don't have a visitor of their own, so having a sense of humour and a kind word is absolutely vital."
The WRVS said volunteers, male or female, must be aged 14 or over. Anyone wanting to put themselves forward should contact the organisation on 0845 601 4670
