After a fresh round of talks with the Professional Footballers Association David Hodgson was last night confident of off-loading French midfielder Fabien Bossy 2 which would allow him to bring in striker Neil Teggart.

Hodgson has spent a fortnight negotiating a release package with the 26-year-old who was brought to club on a free from Clyde by Mick Tait during the summer.

Until Bossy departs Teggart, who has been training with the Quakers all week, won't be able to play as clubs in administration are allowed no more than 20 players.

"Understandably, Fabien wants what's best for him but it's difficult trying to explain to a player from another country that what's being done is in his best interests," explained Hodgson.

"He will not suffer in anyway - I wouldn't allow that to happen. Assuming this is resolved, with the assistance of the PFA, Fabien will remain at the club to play reserve team football to keep himself fit and keep himself in the shop window.

"He won't be able to play in the first-team, but if a club comes along and wants him he'd be free to go.

"Fabien has conducted himself correctly in training throughout and I can't ask for anything more than that.

"If we do reach an agreement he'll be not only helping himself but also the football club."

While the manger has been working to release Bossy, Hodgson has made a contract offer to Craig Liddle, whose current deal expires in the summer.

Since the beginning of the year he's been free to talk to any other interested parties, but Hodgson is confident the fans favourite will stay with the Quakers.

He said: "I hope Lidds remains a part of this club for many years to come. Because I didn't want to lose him I've already begun discussions with a view to retaining his services and hopefully he'll come back to me with an answer in the coming weeks.

"I'm pretty certain he'll agree to stay and I've already spoken to a couple of other players about staying.

"I've not been able to speak to all that I'd like to keep because I'm uncertain of the finances that are going to be available but I've made it clear to players that they shall be rewarded if they continue to conduct themselves on and off the field as they should."

Relegation rivals Southend have signed striker Lawrie Dudfield from Northampton on a month-long loan deal and Rochdale boss Steve Parkin has completed the double loan signing of Bolton defender Danny Livesey and utility man Kangana Lord-Ndiwa - who have signed for an initial month and will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's visit of Mansfield.
