A NEW learning project is offering education and employment training to people with mental health problems in two isolated Durham dales.
The Workers' Educational Association is promoting a series of free ten-week courses in the Wear Valley and Teesdale areas.
New development worker Steve Holmes, who has worked for the mental health charity Mind and Stonham Housing, will tailor courses to students' needs, usually starting with taster classes and progressing to programmes that lead to qualifications.
Topics include art, history, information technology, confidence building, first aid, digital photography and stress, anxiety and anger management.
The Mental Health, Learning and Employment scheme is part of a Durham Dales Primary Care Trust Healthy Living Centre Choice programme, sponsored by the New Opportunities Fund.
For details call Mr Holmes or Gwyneth Lamb on 0191-383-2727, extension 25.
