POLICE are warning owners of expensive trailers to keep watch following another theft in County Durham.
Mandy and George Mitchell of Deanbank - who run equine grass sickness fundraising events in the North-East - had their Ifor Williams trailer stolen overnight on Saturday.
Mrs Mitchell said: "They went through two locked gates and used an oxy-acetelyne burner to get the locks off the trailer, which we thought were foolproof.
"Our's must be the fourth Ifor Williams trailer to go from around Ferryhill over the past six or seven months. The top of the range models cost about £4,000."
A police spokesman confirmed there had been a number of thefts throughout County Durham and beyond.
He said: "Usually they are taken out of the county to other rural areas."
