A JOB shop has opened at Samsung's base at Wynyard, on Tyneside, to help hundreds of workers who are facing redundancy.
The facility is part of a co-ordinated response by the Samsung Project Group.
The group is a collective of public sector agencies pooling their resources and expertise to help the 425-strong workforce, which was told last month that the Korean company was stopping microwave and PC monitor production at its plant in April.
Already, scores of workers have had discussions with JobCentre Plus staff to find out about career opportunities.
The facility has been put in place with help from the Rapid Response Fund set up by the Government.
