Newfit Services Willington: Willington New Inn just managed to edge to victory by the odd point in their re-arranged match against the visiting Hunwick Quarry.

The Singles were shared when Paul Cater, Lenny Glasper and Jean Swain won for the home side and Jamie Wragg, Dave Edmundson and Brian McCabe levelled. The home side then took all three doubles points with wins from Mary Walton with Pat Swain, Lenny Glasper with John Perkins and Phil Blyth with Jean Swain. However the Quarry kept the defeat to a minimum when they won the double points team game.

Willington Lion and Unicorn lead the table by six points from Byers Green Royal Oak, who are one ahead of Willington Cottles.

Tow Law Coors

Newhouse Club whitewashed the visiting Cornsay Royal Oak and hoped that they would have cut the gap at the top. However Tow Law New Market A also won by a maximum when they beat the visiting Tow Law Rose and Crown to stay fifteen points clear. Newhouse are safe in second place, where they lead the third placed, Billy Row Club by 33 points.

Tow Law Dan's Castle went down by five points to the visiting Tow Law New Market B. After the trebles were shared the Castle had singles wins from Paul Murray and David Murray, whilst Alan Thompson, Phil Spencer, Gavin Tennant and Stephen Umpelby pushed the New Market ahead. The visitors then completed a good win by taking all three doubles points.

Tow Law New Market B pulled off their best win of the season when they beat their hosts, second placed Crook Jelly's Bar B by three points. This pushed Jelly's B even further behind the unbeaten leaders, Crook Queen's Head A, who whitewashed their hosts at Tow Law New Market A to go 29 points clear. The Victoria Club, who had a bye, are in third place, 22 points behind Jelly's B.

The leading individual scorers were Heidi Moses 140 and 121 and Margaret Stewart 139 for the Queen's Head A, Dorothy Storey 140 and Ann Varley 131 for the Travellers Rest, Gladys March 140 for Belle Vue Club, Carrie Waller 140 for Jelly's Bar B and Diane Mullinger 128 for the Olde Horse Shoe.

Willington Cricket Club produced the win of the week when they only dropped two points to the visiting Crook Olde Horse Shoe, who slipped down to equal third place. The league leaders, Crook Golden Fleece only dropped two points on their visitors to former title challengers at Crook Mill House, who went down to sixth place in the table.
