A SIXTH form student from Darlington has received an award from Teesside University.
Stacey Thornborough, 17, received a certificate and book token from the university in recognition of her achievements in mathematics.
Stacey, a student at Darlington's Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, was selected from more than 100 students who sat the AS-level mathematics examination at the college in summer.
Steve Green, the college's director of maths and computing, said: "Stacey received the prize because of her hard work and exemplary attitude to study, which enabled her to make excellent progress and gain an A grade at AS-level."
Next year Stacey hopes to go to university to study geography.
