Coxhoe Under-15s warmed up for their vital match against fellow promotion-chasing Town Castle Rovers by walloping Consett last weekend 8-0.

A good performance by most of the team, which saw new signing Stewart Doughty score twice, hit the goal trail in the friendly match as Bobby Orton's side prepared for the trip to Sunderland this week.

Other scorers against Consett were John Dodd and Michael Owens who both score twice while Nathan Ward and Daniel Jones also hit the back of the net while keeper Tom Ortin made several fine saves.

Ben Raine and Shane Gavin again put in solid performances at the back and they'll have to be on the guard again against Town Castle Rovers who sit second behind Coxhoe in Division Two of the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear Youth League.

Sunday's game kicks-off at 11am at the Downhill Compex, Sunderland.

A week today Coxhoe face Fishburn in a derby encounter at Spennymoor United's Brewery Field ground.

The game starts at 7.15pm, admission is a £1 and all proceeds go towards the Moors who are raising funds to replace their clubhouse which was burnt down by fire at Christmas.

* Coxhoe require new players for next season's Under-12s team.

To qualify players must be in either their last year at primary school or the first year in comprehensive.
