THEY might be three goals to the good, but Sir Bobby Robson has warned his Newcastle side to be wary of complacency when they travel to Spain in a fortnight's time.

The Magpies will take a 4-1 lead to Real Mallorca after a remarkable turnaround saw them score four times in the last 23 minutes at St James' Park last night.

But, despite that cushion, Robson insists that Newcastle's pursuit of a place in the last eight of the UEFA Cup is far from complete.

"This tie is over two legs," said Robson. "We've only played one of them. We're in a good position but the tie is in no way over.

"They've scored an away goal which, at the time, looked ominous. It still means something and we'll still have to play to our potential to finish things off over there.

"Some people might look at the scoreline and think that the game is finished - it's still far from finished."

Newcastle looked up against it when Fernando Correa opened the scoring for the visitors, but Craig Bellamy spearheaded a fantastic fightback with United's leveller in the 67th minute.

The Welshman showed no ill effects from the hamstring injury that forced him off at half-time during last week's win over Valerenga, and Robson admitted to being impressed by his powers of recovery.

"On Monday he was doubtful but, by Tuesday, we had decided he would play," said Robson.

"In a week he has made a remarkable recovery because he was injured and he did have a muscular problem. But he's come back and looked as lively and pacy as ever.

"We picked up the pace much better as a team during the second half. They scored against the run of play, but we kept our composure and hit back at them really well."

He added: "I was impressed with our discipline because they played a very physical game.

"That's one of the things that we have learned from playing in Europe.

"It was important that we didn't react and lose our heads, but we played the game sportingly and fairly."
