This tournament took place on Saturday at the Gateshead stadium and the girls tournament was again dominated by Darlington's Louise Trueman.

In the singles she defeated Wynyard's Charlotte Heads 21-0 in the semi-finals while Hayley Robson (Cleadon) defeated Aycliffe's Katie Zissler 21-5 to also reach the final. Louise won the final 11-0 and 11-5 playing with great skill.

The boys match proved closer with Adam Coulson returning to singles play after injury to challenge favourite Daniel Smith of Bishop Auckland. In the semis Daniel beat Alec Scholes of Stockton 21-5 while Adam beat Durham's Scott Carnell 21-2.

The final proved close Adam taking the 1st set 15.10 then Daniel fighting back to take the second 15.5. The final end saw Adam take the lead but Daniel fighting back to win 15-12.

The duo teamed up in the boys doubles and won the final 15-3 and 15-10 over Alec Scholes and Darlington's Ian Defty.

In the girls doubles Louise teamed with Harlepool's Kirsty Whitehouse to defeat Hayley Robson and Gateshead's Lynsey Wheatley.

The mixed doubles saw Daniel going for a clean sweep of titles teaming up with Hayley Robson while Louise attempted the same with Adam Coulson. Daniel and Hayley endured a close shave in the semis when Scott Carnell and Sunderland's Emma Line Cosgrove took an early lead, however the older pair fought back to win 21-14. Adam and Louise had only a slightly easier time, beating Boldon's Michael Gollogly and Kirsty Whitehouse 21-11.

The first set of the final saw Adam and Louise win easily 15-3. However, in the second set Daniel and Hayley fought back to lead 11-8 until excellent play by the other pair saw them take the title 15-11 to give Louise her clean sweep and deny Daniel his.
