Yet another 'ton up' winning haul came from the region's rivers when John Duncan hammered out a colossal 122.15.0 of chub along with a few grayling during the RAF midweek Sweepstake on their Leeming stretch of the river Swale.

Incredibly it was John's first match following an absence of 15 years and it proved to be a non-stop six hours on the waggler and maggot above the Bailey Bridge.

Ex-Master's Champion Kirk Wood came second with several quality grayling and a chub to the stickfloat and maggot for 11.14.0 from Phil Young 11.4.0 and Tex Sutton 11.2.0.

A perfect winter level greeted competitors on the Scruton to Morton stretch of the Swale during Northallerton's final fixture of the season the Condor Cup.

Strong winds hindered sport but nonetheless Leeds rod John Martin bagged a terrific net of 59.13.0, more than enough to secure the cup.

Stickfloat edged down the middle alternating caster and maggot hookbaits produced 23 prime chub from below Morton Bridge.

Next Brian Havelock of Yarm above the stepping stones island at Scruton fished the 'bouncing' bomb and bread under farside cover to finish with 12 chub for 37.0.0.

Others in the frame: John Whitehouse (Darlington) 31.0.0; Gary Bullock (Tadcaster) 27.0.0; Steve Aldridge (Aireborough) 23.2.0 & Jim Taylor (RSPS Tek Neek Trabucco) 21.15.0.

The Tees bream showed up in numbers on the Yarm AA Match length of the Tees during the Harry Wilson Memorial staged downstream of the Town Bridge to the Eaglescliffe golf course.

The leading six in the frame all broke 20lbs+ and Tees regular Newman Scott's Derek Reaney recorded 28.10.0 for victory.

Drawing the first peg in the paddock downstream of the Levenmouth, Derek tamed 10 bream on the groundbait feeder offering a combination of worm caster and red maggot.

It was runner-up spot again for the second successive Yarm event for Team Shimano Quaker's Jimmy Messor.

Sat on peg 175 in the reeds a packed feeder full of worms kept the skimmers active resulting in 26.9.0.

Staying on the Tees, the Thornaby AA Jack Aston Trophy on the middle reaches was won with 15.4.0 during an amazing finale when two anglers on adjoining pegs each netted 7 chub apiece during this 70 pegger.

Paul Stainsby of Flynns Tackle above the plantation fence on peg 41 caught all his fish in the opening hour on feeder and liquidised bread over to the other side while at the peg below Quaker Tackle's Steve Chantry tempted fish at steady intervals down the middle to stickfloat and maggot.
