WINGER John Oster is eager to atone for his sending-off at Norwich this season when Sunderland bid to book their play-off place tonight against the Canaries, writes Clive Hetherington.

Oster was shown a red card at Carrow Road in October for serious foul play as the Black Cats were beaten 1-0.

The Welsh international said: "I got sent off there which didn't help, so from a personal point of view I'd like us to beat them.

"We created numerous chances there, but it wasn't our day. I don't think there's any team in the division better than us, it's just a case of getting the breaks.

"Norwich got them against us earlier this season, so hopefully we'll get them this time."

Sunderland want to secure a play-off spot before their trip to Burnley on Sunday, with Oster admitting: "We'd prefer to do it against Norwich and not be hanging on until the last day. Burnley will make it hard, so we need it sewn up.

"But Norwich will not lie down. They will play their best team and they'll want to win. If they win, they're definitely champions. As long as we don't lose then we're in the play-offs."
