POLICE have issued a warning after a Middlesbrough man was electrocuted following a break-in at a disused dairy.
The 39-year-old man is still critically ill in intensive care at the RVI hospital, in Newcastle, after suffering serious burns. He received a huge electric shock as he tried to strip copper wiring at the premises in Teesside.
On Monday night, police found the victim at the site of the disused dairy in the Roman Road area of the town where they believe he was attempting to steal the electrical cabling.
Officers understand the man had accidentally tapped into a live cable sending thousands of volts through his body.
Yesterday, a police spokesman warned people not to enter derelict or unused buildings as the fabrics and contents could be unsafe.
A 28-year-old local man arrested shortly after the intruder suffered the huge shock was released on police bail pending further inquiries.
