PEOPLE turned out in their hundreds for Sedgefield's annual medieval fair on Saturday.

Fair queen Kirsty Smith and attendants Chloe Bassford, Olivia Coates, Jessica Coulson and Fay Dovaston travelled in style in two vintage cars to lead the opening parade.

They were accompanied by Cleveland Police Band.

In contrast to last year's event, the weather was glorious, ensuring visitors enjoyed the activities and entertainment until late in the afternoon.

The chairwoman of the fair committee, Wendy Gill, said: "Last year, it was pouring down, but we soldiered on. It was much nicer this year.

"The event's reputation is spreading, and people from Stockton, Darlington and Bishop Auckland joined locals for the 34th annual event."

Along with usual prizes, an award was presented to Sedgefield 1st Brownies to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the group.

Funds raised from the event are used for the upkeep of Ceddesfeld Hall, the home of Sedgefield Community Association.
