A NORTH-EAST bakery chain has won an award for its sandwiches.
Greggs staff in Darlington and Durham are celebrating after the British Sandwich Association voted its range of sandwiches one of the best available.
Greggs was named Bakery Sandwich Maker of the Year at an awards ceremony in London.
Greggs North-East employs nearly 1,700 staff and operates 110 shops in the region, from Berwick down to Catterick.
Graham Randell, regional managing director of Greggs North East, said: "This award is a tremendous achievement and is reward for all the hard work our staff put in every day to make sure our sandwiches are the best available."
