FANS of Mark Johnston are in for a field day because the Middleham ace today sends strongly-fancied runners to Newcastle, Goodwood, and Doncaster.

Although from a betting point of view Royal Island (2.20) is going to be a skinny price to get the ball rolling in the opener at Newcastle, there's little doubt that the Saltwell Signs Novice Stakes is at his mercy.

Johnston's juvenile made an impressive start to his career when opening his account at the first time of asking with a runaway eight-length success at Beverley 12 days ago. Clearly a very speedy individual, it will be no surprise if he ultimately turns out to be Royal Ascot material.

Johnston has found a relatively soft race for What's Up Doc (4.00) to make his reappearance in the Northumberland Plate Maiden Stakes.

Despite failing to win last year, What's Up Doc showed sufficient promise on his last couple of outings in 2003 to suggest he's capable of making up into quite a useful middle-distance performer this term.

The well-drawn Premier Dream (4.30) should be priced at around 4-1 or better for the Radio Newcastle Handicap.

Joe Fanning rode a brilliant race when making all to score at Warwick recently, and with the combination set to emerge from stall one, they are ideally positioned to hand out exactly the same treatment to their rivals.

At Goodwood, the blazing sunshine of the past couple of days has enhanced the prospects of Johnston's long-distance raider Mystical Girl (4.20).

Mystical Girl absolutely bounced off the fast ground when romping to a two-length success over one mile at Thirsk last Saturday, a victory for which she only has a 5lb penalty to shoulder.

The rapidly-improving filly now has a further three furlongs to travel and although she'll be going into unknown territory as far as stamina limitations are concerned, there's every chance Mystical Girl will be up to the task.

The stable's winning streak might easily continue at Doncaster's evening fixture via Saint Clements (6.20), who has been working nicely on the gallops, so must enter calculations in the Sky Bet Maiden Auction Stakes.

Finally, Love In Seattle (7.50) cannot be left out of the equation after the way he battled on bravely to take the spoils at Musselburgh last time out.

The Mick Doyle-owned colt has always been highly thought of by team Johnston and after a couple of frustrating years he's now threatening to pick up some decent prizes.

l Marcus Tregoning is refusing to rule out a tilt at the Vodafone Coronation Cup at Epsom for last season's Seabiscuit St Leger runner-up High Accolade.

The Lambourn trainer said Epsom might just suit his colt. ''He's in good form and he'll either go for the Coronation Cup or for the Group Two Hardwicke at Royal Ascot,'' said Tregoning.

''I think it is more likely that he will go for the Hardwicke.
