A FRESH drive to improve life for people with chronic debilitating conditions gets under way next month.
Derwentside Primary Care Trust (PCT) is launching another Expert Patient Programme in Stanley.
It follows the success of a scheme that ran in Stanley, Leadgate and Consett last year.
The free programme aims to help patients with conditions such as arthritis, asthma, back pain, heart problems and diabetes.
The six-week course runs alongside medical treatments, to reduce pain and give people more self-confidence.
Sessions are led by an expert patient - someone who has a chronic condition.
Pam Gwynn, of Derwentside PCT, said: "By sharing their experiences and difficulties, participants can improve their health for themselves."
