CongratulationS go to Tindale WMC who clinched the title when they defeated Stillington The Royal who, for the third year, take the runners-up spot.

Tindale won 4-1 in a hard fought encounter, Garry Whittaker opened for Tindale after 12 minutes and Ashley Wilson made it 2-0 on the half hour. Paul Cleary reduced the arrears 15 minutes into the second half, Royal had a chance to level the scores but failed to put away penalty kicks on two occasions. With tensions running high the game was marred unfortunately when a player from each side was dismissed from the field of play. With ten minutes to go Tindale broke for Dean Maddison to slot home number three and Paul Foster made it 4-1 with the last kick of the game. President George Simpson presented the League Championship Trophy and runners-up Shield to the respective clubs.

In the remaining fixtures there were the usual going through the motions of end of season games although Darlington The Mowden and Shildon Elm Road WMC produced their usual competitive closely fought game. Elm Road had the better of the first half exchanges and led through two Thomas Louden goals. Scott Hodgson scored for Mowden in the second but an equaliser eluded them.

Hurworth Emerson Arms entertained Darlington Stadia and came away six-three victors after an entertaining game, both Wayne King and Neil Bell hit a brace for Emerson the other two coming via Dave Walker and an own goal.

Darlington Travellers Rest fielded a much weakened side and went down 4-1 to Chilton Community College who also had to make a few changes from normal. Paul Griffiths was on target for Travellers.

Congratulations also goes to Darlington Archdeacon who, in midweek, picked up the League Cup when they defeated Darlington The Mowden nine goals to three although the scoreline belies the overall play of the game. The main damage came in two five minute spells - 25th-30th minutes and 85th-90th - when three goals were scored. By the 30th minute Archdeacon led 4-0 with Mowden pulling back two before the break. On the turnround 'Deacon struck within a couple of minutes and Mowden replied three minutes later. For Archdeacon Neil Blewitt, Adam Flynn and Chris Jordan hit a brace with Brian Gibson, Mick Duffy jnr and an own goal rounding off the scoring. Gary Varty, Steve Thompson and Ritchie Dodsworth replied for Mowden. Chairman Bob Blair presented the cup and trophies to the teams.
